Amid Delhi blast probe, Home Minister Shah chairs Northern Zonal Council meet in Faridabad

Chandigarh, Nov 17 (UNI) Home Minister Amit Shah chaired the 32nd meeting of the Northern Zonal Council in Faridabad on Monday, even as the investigation into the Delhi blast continues.
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini received the Home Minister on his arrival at Surajkund on Sunday, the venue of the high-level session.
Chief Ministers, Governors and senior security officials from six northern states and union territories are participating in the meeting which is expected to focus on internal security cooperation across the region. Officials said the agenda includes coordinated action on crimes against women and children and expediting investigations in rape cases.
According to information shared by the state public relations department, the meeting is being attended by Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Kumar Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta and Punjab Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains.
The Northern Zonal Council session will deliberate on inter-state issues, centre-state coordination, and key matters of regional concern. Discussions will also cover a range of national-interest subjects, including strengthening fast-track special courts for sexual-offence cases, improving nutrition and education indicators, advancing health services, addressing power sector gaps, enhancing urban planning, and reviewing cooperative sector reforms.
Officials said the meeting aims to push consensus-based solutions and accelerate pending initiatives across member states.
